According to Law Enforcement Officials the year 2010 has turned into one of the most deadly tragic on record for police officer(s) across the United States.
According to officials, law enforcement deaths are up almost 42 % compared to last year, and of the 68 officer fatalities in 2009, 80 %, or 27 deaths, were from gun fire, according to statistics.
Three (3) Officer(s) have been killed in the State of Florida this year
New Jersey Trooper Killed:
June 7, 2010: New Jersey State Police say a trooper has died of injuries he suffered when he was struck by a car while looking for two suspects who had abandoned a car on Interstate 195.
Maryland State Trooper Killed:
June 11, 2010—Trooper Wesley Brown of the Maryland State Police was shot and killed at approximately 12:40 am while working an off duty security detail at a restaurant in Forestville, Maryland.
Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Killed:
Thursday, June 10, 2010:
Harris County Texas Sheriff Deputy Eddie Wotipka drowned after entering a canal in an attempt to rescue a dog that had fallen into the water.
California Highway Patrol Officer Killed
Friday, June 11, 2010:
Saturday June 19, 2010: Spotsylvania Deputy Sheriff Dean Ridings was killed in a boating accident while patrolling Lake Anna. At the time of the crash, Deputy Ridings was on-board with a another Deputy who received minor injuries.
Lancaster Texas Police Officer Killed:
Sunday June 20, 2010: Lancaster Texas Police Officer Craig Shaw was shot and killed after he and other officer(s) responded to a shooting call at a local apartment complex where another man had just been murdered.
Richmond Virginia Sheriff’s Deputy Killed:
Saturday June 19, 2010: Richmond Virginia Sheriff Deputy Caroline Green succumbed to her injuries she sustained after a patrol car crash several days ago.
Georgia Twiggs County Sheriff’s Deputy Killed:
Tuesday June 22, 2010: Twiggs County Deputy Richard Daniels was killed after his patrol car struck a fallen tree on U.S. 80.
